Ground Water is critical to communities in southwest Ohio - for most, it is the only available source of water for residential, commercial, and industrial water needs. This reliance creates a special incentive
to protect valuable ground water resources in order to insure a clean, reliable source of water for continued community growth.
In 1991, seven major public, private, and industrial ground water producers in southern Butler and northern Hamilton Counties, Ohio, began working on a joint ground water protection program known as the Source Water Protection. The multi-jurisdictional, multiple supplier approach taken by Hamilton to New Baltimore Ground Water Consortium was one of Ohio's first.
