Ground Water is critical to communities in southwest Ohio - for most, it is the only available source of water for residential, commercial, and industrial water needs.  This reliance creates a special incentive to protect valuable ground water resources in order to insure a clean, reliable source of water for continued community growth.

        In 1991, seven major public, private, and industrial ground water producers in southern Butler and northern Hamilton Counties, Ohio, began working on a joint ground water  protection program known as the Wellhead Protection Program (WHPP). The multi-jurisdictional, multiple supplier approach taken by Hamilton to New Baltimore Ground Water Consortium was one of Ohio's first.

      The purpose of this web page is to help those who depend on ground water for their drinking water have a better understanding of:

  • What ground water is;

  • How ground water can become contaminated;

  • The Consortium's Source Water Protection Program;

  • What you can do to help protect your drinking water source.
